2010 Napa Valley Eastern Exposures Zinfandel

Jerry Seps focuses this wine on cool ripeness, a character provided by the morning sun on his hillside vineyard. This mountainside above Calistoga faces north and east, the fruit grown there selected for its fragrance and freshness. There’s sunny softness in the middle of the wine, with fine tannins detailing the woodland strawberry and peach pit flavors. It’s Napa Valley luxury without excess—brisk and vinous, delicious now or in ten years. (400 cases)

2010 Napa Valley Mayacamas Range Zinfandel

A fragrant, peppery zin grown in the hills northwest of Calistoga, this has energy behind its minerally black fruit flavors. It’s a simple, charming red to pour with spicy lamb sausages or most anything else off the grill. (2,000 cases)

2009 Napa Valley Antaeus

Jerry Seps’s crossover blend is half zinfandel, half cabernet–merlot–petit verdot (37 percent, 8 percent and 4 percent, respectively). It’s a fresh raspberry essence with a lot of rooty, robust tannins. The finish is clean, ready to decant for braised beef.
